PHRF B8; Final Standings
On a beautifully warm fall evening of 6-12 kt south winds, congrats goes to the crew of Soundwave finishing first in the final Thursday race of the season. Solo Valcour Race
Four VSC boats participated in the twenty-two boat Solo Valcour Race this past Saturday. This race is a staggered start time on time single-handed affair. Clinton Regatta
Under beautiful skies and building breezy south winds, O.D. Ed and Tammy Trombley set course 1 starting deep at the north end of Plattsburgh Bay with the windward mark east of Crab Island. VSC had a nice contingent of seven boats participating in LCYC’s Ladies Cup this past Saturday. Clinton Regatta Changes
Clinton Community College is not hosting the Clinton Regatta this year. The race will be held as scheduled August 11, 2012. There will be no after race surf and turf and awards ceremony at the College. Souvenir comes from behind to win A7 by 19 seconds over Galilee. In light NE winds averaging around 4 kts. OD Mark Stata set a nice 6 leg W/L course starting near the breakwater. With a first and two seconds, Obelix, wins Soling 7 in light southerlies on Course 1’s less than 1/2 mile legs. USA 835 earned first in the second race and takes second overall. Galilee ghosted to victory by staying right on the 3d and final upwind 1-mile leg of course 1 in the dying breeze of PHRF A6. Soundwave second; Souvenir third. Witchcraft maintains a one-point lead over Soundwave and two points over Souvenir in the tightly contested A Series. Two races remain.
Freya wins Cracked Pot
Despite starting early and having to re-start, Freya eked out a 19 second win over Souvenir in the very exciting finish of the 16.1-mile staggered start Cracked Pot. Four boats converged at the finish, with Soundwave just 20 seconds behind Souvenir and Real Escape coming in another 20 seconds later.

NAKED TURTLE RACE
Under sunny skies, gusty and shifty southwest to northwest winds, ranging into the mid-20s, the classic needled-nosed boat Lotus bested the 5 boat fleet in the first JAM race of the season, correcting more than 2 minutes over line honoree and 2d place corrected Etoile D’Argent, on course 66, a 12.5 mile Gold Cup type course. 3d place went to Chaosarou II.

VSC has Strong Showing at Odziozo
Souvenir leads VSC’s 4 boat contingent in LCYC’s Odziozo’s 24 boat spinnaker fleet, finishing 2nd of all non-sports boats, just 26 seconds behind Avena, and third overall. In steady winds of about 9 kts, the spinnaker fleet had yet another very closely contested finish. ODs Andy Sajor and Mr. McNichols set Course 3 with upwind leg of approx. 1.15 nm to a drop mark, then a broad reach to G jibing into a tight reach back to the drop mark starting pin located just north of C. In another squeaker, Souvenir’s all lady crew of Katie, LaShauna and Darcy, edged out Soundwave on the last leg to finish first corrected by 5 seconds in this light steady 5 kt S breeze race. Course 1 windward/leeward YG had six 0.5 nm legs. Galilee took line honors and finished third one minute corrected off the pace.

As a result of the issues raised by JAM Fleet captain Cinthia Audet, and upon majority vote of the Executive Committee in favor on the following motions:
Motion 1: JAM members should not be required to have a paying member driving because most JAM boats have only one or two crew aboard.
