PHRF B8; Final Standings
On a beautifully warm fall evening of 6-12 kt south winds, congrats goes to the crew of Soundwave finishing first in the final Thursday race of the season.  Soundwave’s victory cracks a three way tie for first in the series and earns her crew overall B Series honors, with 9 points.  Witchcraft 4th in the final race,takes 2d in the series 2 points back.  Galilee sails to 3d in the final race...

Solo Valcour Race
Four VSC boats participated in the twenty-two boat Solo Valcour Race this past Saturday.  This race is a staggered start time on time single-handed affair. Participants are allowed crew aboard but only the skipper can perform adjustments and maneuvers.  The race starts/finishes near GC3 at Valcour’s Bluff Point with a turning point at Carlton Prize.  In A Class Galilee corrected first, Etoile...

Clinton Regatta
Under beautiful skies and building breezy south winds, O.D. Ed and Tammy Trombley set course 1 starting deep at the north end of Plattsburgh Bay with the windward mark east of Crab Island.  The JAM and Spin fleets completed the six 2.75 mile legs in approximately 3 to 3 1/2  hours.  Soundwave led the spin fleet throughout and finished first on corrected time.  E’toile...

Ladies Cup
VSC had a nice contingent of seven boats participating in LCYC’s Ladies Cup this past Saturday.  In very light sporadic winds, the 52-boat fleet started altogether drifting slowly from Proctor’s Shoal upwind to Four Brothers.  Some boats chose to go north of Juniper Island while others remained south.  As the lead boats approached the windward mark, the winds shifted into a beam reach and built...

Clinton Regatta Changes
Clinton Community College is not hosting the Clinton Regatta this year.  The race will be held as scheduled August 11, 2012.  There will be no after race surf and turf and awards ceremony at the College.  The race will start in Plattsburgh Bay, be one race selected from course numbers 1, 2 and 3, with the intent that the first boat to cross the finish line will do so no earlier than 2.5 hours...

Galilee wins PHRF A8; Souvenir wins the series!

Souvenir comes from behind to win A7 by 19 seconds over Galilee.  In light NE winds averaging around 4 kts. With a first and two seconds, Obelix, wins Soling 7 in light southerlies on Course 1’s less than 1/2 mile legs.   USA 835 earned first in the second race and takes second overall.  Kim Manion, in her third race of the season with Ty and Amy Kretser aboard, won the third go-round.  Thanks to OD’s Mike and Robin Jenkins, Darcy Sutherland and Craig Meyerson.

Souvenir takes second place in Lake Champlain Race

NAKED TURTLE RACE

VSC has Strong Showing at Odziozo
Souvenir leads VSC’s 4 boat contingent in LCYC’s Odziozo’s 24 boat spinnaker fleet, finishing 2nd of all non-sports boats, just 26 seconds behind Avena, and third overall.  Freya finished 7th, Galilee 8th and Real Escape 14th.  The sport boat Buffalo Theory took line honors and the cup.  For details go to http://lcyc.info/files/2012OD_0.html

Soundwave maintains 1st place in PHRF A Series...
In steady winds of about 9 kts, the spinnaker fleet had yet another very closely contested finish.  ODs Andy Sajor and  Mr. McNichols set Course 3 with upwind leg of approx. 1.15 nm to a drop mark, then a broad reach to G jibing into a tight reach back to the drop mark starting pin located just north of C.  These three legs were followed by 2 upwind/downwind times around.  Withccraft started early...

Galilee conquers the long legs of Isle St. Michel
